When these people are transmitting they walk all over the phone lines, Stereo equipment, TV, and baby monitor. I've called the phone company, cable company, and FCC. The phone and cable company's say not our problems !!! I have disconnected the phone line coming into the house, and put a phone on the line that comes in the house. I still get interference !!! All the phone company said at that was "If you mess up your phone lines, we'll have to charge you to fix it". The FCC has been next to useless. It took days to just get ahold of a person, then he says call your phone company and hangs up !!! Now my question, is there any kind of filter I can buy to put on my phone line that will filter that junk out ??? I run a modem from time to time, so it can't screw with that. I can live with the TV and stereo interference, but my phone is totally useless when they are transmitting. Any help at all short of blowing up their transmitters is welcome :) Please EMAIL to the addr listed below, don't read this group very often. Gary- At first, my observations were similar to yours. But after playing with it for a while, I found that up to 50% of people's voices are too monotonous, and get partially nulled-out as if they were heterodynes! I wonder if the operating instructions might be in error. For example, audio output has a rating that should drive a loudspeaker in the mobile environment. However, when the input level is adjusted down so the red light blinks, maximum output level is barely adequate. Considering the cost of some of the other DSP units, I suppose the RS unit is worth the price. However, I consider it strictly "first generation". If we are very lucky, a second generation DSP chip will soon be available to plug right in. 73, Fred, K4DII ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 May 1994 22:36:00 GMT From: news.Hawaii.Edu!uhunix3.uhcc.Hawaii.Edu!jherman@ames.arpa Subject: Test session wierdos To: info-hams@ucsd.edu In article slay@netcom.com (Sandy Lynch) writes: > >Actually, it may be possible that the examinee, due to his >advanced years (much less his nervousness) may not have been >able to write "clearly" as demanded by some of the VEs. >I almost wondered if that guy would have had a case for an >age-discrimination lawsuit (arrghhhh).
